The New York State Internal Control Act
Growing Stronger Every Day!
205 Wolf Rd.
The New York State Internal Control Association (NYSICA) is your source for information regarding the New York State Governmental Accountability, Audit and Internal Control Act. NYSICA provides free training and staff development to our member agencies in three areas: professional development, refresher training, and beginner orientation.
NYSICA serves New York State's agencies, authorities and commissions, as well as a growing web community comprised of over 400 participants from international, federal, state, and local governments. All are hands-on practitioners who strive to maintain and improve accountability in government.
Happy New Year!!!
With the New Year comes change. The first is remembering to change our habit of writing 2015 on documents. And then there are the New Year resolutions that many of us make. Change is inevitable. Well, NYSICA is gearing up for a change in Administration due to expiring terms of two Vice- Presidents, the Secretary, the Treasurer, and President-Elect. (For slate of Officer click here)
All these positions are a great opportunity to expand your role in NYSICA and demonstrate your commitment to the industry. If you would like to become a member of the governing body of NYSICA, please let us know by forwarding a copy of your resume and a cover letter expressing your interest. Elections will be held in March and the elected officers will be installed at the Annual Conference held on April 28, 2016 at the Radisson Hotel (formerly the Holiday Inn).
We are also in need of a Co-Webmaster. Last year NYSICA improved the website to be more attractive and user friendly. Now that we have the site working well, we are seeking a volunteer for this position. The primary responsibility is to perform website maintenance, regular updates and postings.
COSO 2013 expanded the original COSO by adding the seventeen principles that enhanced the existing five COSO components. Some state agencies and authorities have or will be shortly implementing COSO. If you have implemented COSO 2013 within your organization, we would like to hear from you.
As in the past, we are looking to our colleagues to share their successes and bumps in the road, so we can all benefit. NYSICA is planning to host a panel discussion at our annual conference in April. If you can share your experience and be a part of our panel discussion, please contact me or one of the Board members.
We are also looking for topics and presenters to speak at our monthly membership meetings. Please contact me if you would like to be a presenter or know of someone who may be interested as well as any suggestions on topics you would like to hear about.
